PenReps ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it when you use the PenReps mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the service:

• Account information – Name and email address you provide during onboarding (stored locally on your device).
• Usage data – Writing submissions you create within the app, your practice streak, XP, and preference settings. This data is stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage.
• Subscription status – We use RevenueCat to process in-app purchases. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous user ID and stores your subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• AI interactions – Writing samples you submit for scoring or feedback are sent to our API server and processed by Anthropic's Claude AI. Samples are not stored after the response is returned. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To deliver AI-powered scoring, feedback, and rewrites on your writing exercises.
• To track your progress, streaks, and gamification data locally on your device.
• To process and manage your premium subscription via RevenueCat.
• To improve the app experience based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your personal account data (name, email, goals, progress) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers. Writing samples sent for AI analysis are processed in real time and are not persisted after the response is returned.

Our API server uses HTTPS for all data in transit. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy.

5. Children's Privacy

PenReps is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Your Rights

Since most of your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app. For subscription-related data held by RevenueCat, please refer to their privacy policy and data deletion process. For any other requests, contact us below.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
